The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Director Hospital Accreditation in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX (remote/home based is acceptable) .

The Director of Hospital Accreditation will be the executive lead of the Hospital Accreditation and Certification program that ensures strategic alignment of program objectives by defining and creating the framework which achieves programmatic and revenue objectives. The Director will ensure staff implement business strategies and evaluate the hospital accreditation business model on a regular basis by understanding and reacting to the market environment and trends. Under the direction of the Vice President Programs and Operations of Quality and Health IT, this individual will provide leadership and accountability to the hospital accreditation team in the development, production, delivery and continuing evaluation of the hospital accreditation business model and subsequent standards, policies and protocols.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Cultivates business development and strategic marketing plans for Hospital Accreditation and Certification market. Actively develops growth trajectories and retention strategies.

  • Develops and ensures implementation of the Hospital Accreditation strategic plan.

  • Executive leader for Hospital Accreditation and Certification volunteer committees and AHA/ASA stakeholders and collaborators.

  • Develops overall alignment and direction of Hospital Accreditation and Certification program operations team.

  • Selects, manages, trains and evaluates Sr. Managers and other staff as assigned. Provides direction and leadership to Sr. Managers and hospital accreditation staff. Provides input to the Vice President, Programs and Operations, Quality & Health IT regarding the assessment of the accreditation manager’s competencies and skills, identifying and reporting on areas of inconsistency and need for improvement.

  • Responsible for hospital accreditation fiscal management.

Required Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field of study.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of senior managerial experience, with the skills to manage in a team environment, to include planning, budgeting, and assigning and directing projects, resources and people with a track record to deliver results against goals and objectives.

  • Ability to create a vision, develop a business plan and execute the plan on an association wide basis, with a knack to effectively negotiate, interact and develop strategic relationships between AHA and other entities.

  • Experience in developing and launching a new business.

  • Knowledge of hospital and/or healthcare, including policies, standards, disease specific program management, accreditation, recognition, and certification programs. Clinical experience a plus.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required to interact and partner with individuals at various levels internal and external to the organization.

  • Organized and detailed oriented, capable of handling multiple priorities, and working independently.

  • Supportive, customer service-oriented attitude with a demonstrated ability to attain results.

  • Must be able to travel overnight approx. 50% of the time.
