The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a National Communications Consultant to help drive our health impact and revenue goals . Note: Location for the selected candidate is flexible, provided the location allows for efficient and cost effective travel as required by this position. The National Communications Consultant will serve as the Community Health team liaison to Marketing and Communications Field Staff; this will include advising, tracking, and reporting field activities. The most essential function of this role will be collaborating with National Center and Field staff to inform, communicate, and support execution of strategies that align with team and organizational goals. This will include gathering and analyzing data, facilitating and ensuring the flow of essential information between the field and national center, and identifying and helping address technical assistance needs in the field. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Manage the development of national field resources to support staff in ensuring the accomplishment of the field communication and marketing goals by actively participating with the National Center and Affiliate leaders. Ensure consistency of strategy, message, and recommendations for tactical, field-level implementation in both Community Health and Community Development.

  • Oversee and maintain a comprehensive and integrated digital and social media strategy that integrates the master brand while enhances the field's communications initiatives.

  • Support the Affiliate communication teams in exploring and identifying ways to expand communication strategies such as digital and social media into business strategies and communications campaigns. Work with Communications team to create digital and social media resources, including, but not limited to, posts, articles, podcasts and videos, to creatively communicate about the AHA/ASA

  • Support the execution of digital and social media management standards, policies, rules of engagement and training for digital and social media communications strategies.

  • Apply marketing research and development methods to learn and understand emerging trends and technologies, and communicate this knowledge clearly and concisely through updates, training and workshops

  • Defines the key performance indicators and implement listening, measurement, analytics and reporting methods to gage success.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Social marketing, Communications, or related field.

  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar role with strong writing and storytelling skills, the ability to leverage data, insights, and trends to draft a compelling narrative. Specific experience in public health campaign communications preferred.

  • Relevant content marketing experience and a strong understanding of consumer strategies in traditional, digital and social media, online advertising, marketing technology, and digital analytics

  • Proven ability to create campaigns that resonate with consumers

  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.

  • Field or field consulting experience

  • Demonstrated experience in budget oversight and management

  • Ability to travel at least 25%
