The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to serve as its next Director, Talent Acquisition at our National Center office in Dallas, Texas .

The Director, Talent Acquisition is responsible for creating and driving the Talent Acquisition strategy and vision while managing a local team and executive level openings at our National Center. In this role, you will continue to build upon our association wide employment brand which helps foster our mission and meet our strategic goals. You will partner with HR and Business Leaders across the organization to ensure the Talent Acquisition team provides high quality candidates in a timely fashion, utilizing innovative sourcing methods and recruiting tools, in order to meet Talent Acquisition’s goals and objectives.

  • Serve as a Talent Acquisition Business Partner to AHA Business Leaders and Executives

  • Directly manage and recruit on executive level requisitions

  • Partner and build collaborative relationships with the Human Resources Leaders as well as a Matrixed Talent Acquisition team to effectively lead creative recruiting initiatives (e.g., diversity recruiting efforts; targeted/passive recruiting pools; etc.)

  • Lead and mentor a direct team of experienced professional recruiters, a dedicated sourcer and a Diversity Coordinator, ensuring their development and growth

  • Utilize innovative recruiting techniques and social media to bring high quality talent to the organization

  • Help establish a consistent and recognizable employment brand aligned to our mission which helps AHA to be considered as a “Great Place to Work”

  • Develop and successfully execute on creative, robust and effective talent sourcing plans

  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts and community resources for major markets to help identify a qualified and diverse candidate pool

  • Lead and represent the AHA at various community events, networking opportunities and career fairs

  • Manage recruiting tools and vendor relationships while ensuring recruiters are using tools to source and build viable pipelines; regularly evaluate tools/relationships for effectiveness

  • Oversee development and delivery of regular, comprehensive reporting on talent acquisition metrics including productivity, social recruiting effectiveness, time to hire

  • Engage in forecasting and workforce management

  • Other duties as assigned that benefit the mission of the AHA

Required Experience

  • 10 years’ experience in full life cycle talent acquisition (sourcing, screening, assessment/selection, offer, hire) in a fast paced corporate environment required.

  • Minimum 5 years in a management role

  • Successful track record in leading and managing a similarly-sized recruiting function while serving as a mentor for team to help them reach their personal and professional goals

  • Experience managing virtual employees

  • Ability to work independently and partner with other recruiters and HR Leaders; influencing others without direct authority in a matrixed and team-oriented environment and culture

  • Experience with technology; applicant tracking systems, recruitment marketing, and CRM Tools as well as working with diversity-related agency

  • Experience with selecting, implementing and optimizing an ATS; managing a budget, vendor selection and relationship

  • Experience building and leading a diversity recruiting program including campus recruiting with diverse-based colleges and university, veterans and disability-related organizations, and the various state agencies across the United States

  • Significant and demonstrable personal success in search, selection, recruitment, placement of talented staff, preferably in the non-profit or health industry

  • Proven experience with executive level recruiting, local market and virtual recruiting

  • Capable of identifying and implementing “best practices” for sourcing and candidate screening

  • Executive presence and effective communication skills

  • Strategic and analytic thinking
