The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Part Time Editorial Assistant (Stroke Scientific Statements) in our National Center office located in Dallas, TX .
In this role, you will help the Stroke Council by assembling scientific statement manuscript drafts, managing and updating references in papers, collating edits suggested by manuscript authors, and preparing manuscripts for review.
This is a part time opportunity and we are looking for someone to work approx. 10 hours per week.
Essential Job Duties:
Manages references among manuscript sections and authors in a single list, renumbering, updating, and removing as needed.
Contacts scientific statement authors to get status of their sections of the manuscript; provides manuscript status reports and updates to chairs.
Merges sections submitted by section authors into a draft.
Circulates drafts among authors and collates manuscript comments/revisions for chairs.
Verifies manuscript meets stipulations outlined in Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation before submission.
Prepares and circulates responses to reviewers among writing group members during review stages of manuscript.
Ensures original figure and table files are submitted with manuscripts; contacts authors if files are not complete.

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university.
Minimum two (2) years of related work experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
Project management knowledge.
Ability to work independently managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
Familiarity with Endnote or other reference management software tools.
Understanding of common graphic formats.
