We currently have an excellent job opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic fundraising or sales professional as a Development Director in Maui , part of our Hawaii Division. As the Director, you work with local volunteers in the overall planning, management and implementation of the Heart Walk and Go Red For Women fundraising campaigns, with a total revenue goal of approximately $200,000.

This is a home office position based in Maui with strong preference for candidates currently living in and familiar with the assigned area.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Prospect and obtain corporate and community cash sponsorship, both renewal and new

  • Identify, recruit and manage high level volunteer leadership and committee members and build strong volunteer relationships

  • Drive strategy that results in event participant income

  • Event management and execution

  • Implement and adhere to established best practices, timelines and deadlines

  • Community and corporate outreach and networking through local FTF meetings with donors, volunteers and sponsors, both current and prospective

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 2-5 years successful experience in fundraising, outside sales or marketing

  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment, training, and management

  • Highly effective organizational, communication, negotiations and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task

  • Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment

  • Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs

  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with the American Heart Association or similar nonprofit organization

  • High comfort level in new business development

  • Experience in securing corporate cash sponsorship
