The American Heart Association (AHA) has an exciting opportunity for you to partner with our extraordinary Philadelphia Heart Walk team in a temporary full time Development Specialist role. The Development Specialist will need to be an energetic individual who is passionate about our mission and the impact in the community. This is a temporary position (37.5 hours/week) we are looking to fill immediately with the assignment ending in November 2017.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Work with a number of companies/volunteers in the Greater Philadelphia Region to execute their fundraising plans (these plans would already be in place)

  • Drive to companies to have face to face meeting with coaches (team captains), to help them with the Heart Walk website and provide fundraising strategies

  • Walker recruitment – between phone calls, in person meetings and emails, work with coaches to get their walkers registered and fundraising

  • Drive to companies and pick up money/drop off supplies

  • Provide exceptional customer service

  • Pull fundraising reports and additional information for companies/coaches/walkers to support their fundraising success

  • 4 year college degree preferred

  • Business to business sales and/or fundraising experience preferred with strong customer service focus to partner with assigned corporate accounts

  • Demonstrated skills in strong oral communication including large group presentations and group facilitation

  • Ability to speak publicly with enthusiasm and persuasiveness

  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and database tools to enter data as requested

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to schedule and prepare for meetings and presentations

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and thrive in a high-pace work environment

  • Knowledge of Philadelphia business community a plus

  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in territory

  • Ability to travel within Philadelphia territory by day up to 75% of the time (AHA will reimburse for work-related travel); overnight travel is not anticipated

  • Ability to successfully pass a background check

  • Flexible schedule and availability throughout normal business hours
