The American Heart Association ( AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a VP, Heart Ball to help lead the Business Development, Fundraising and Sales efforts of the Tampa Bay Heart Ball . The VP Heart Ball will be accountable for organizing, directing and implementing the event. Focus will be on the Heart Ball implementation through Event Leadership/Committee recruitment, solicitation of sponsorships, auction fundraising & production, and overall event coordination with a fundraising goal. Will work in close partnership with other staff and external volunteer committee members.
Solicits and maintains high-level corporate & patron sponsors by developing a year-round cultivation plan ensuring superior customer relations.
Instrumental in building recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to solicit high level event Chairs and working committees.
Planning, development, maintenance, implementation and evaluation of assigned fundraising activities according to best practices and event timelines, including the Heart Ball’s silent and live auctions.
Plans, organizes, and delivers aspects agreed upon in our sponsorship contracts.
Volunteer recruitment, orientation and training.
Works in partnership with Major Gifts and Senior Leadership in donor pathing and stewardship for high capacity donors.
Plays a role in planning, development and execution of event logistics.
Works as part of a team to consult with staff and volunteers in all aspects of event fundraising.
Helps prepare an annual budget to support event plans and activities.
Assists in the development & maintenance of appropriate statistical reports, evaluations, and data gathering for volunteers, the local office, and the affiliate.
Maintains timely communication with all staff at local and affiliate levels, and helps ensure all information requests and deadlines are met.
Maintains timely communication with the Executive Director and others as needed
Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel throughout the market, the affiliate and to the national center as needed.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Three to five years' experience with a non-profit organization in a fundraising capacity, or five to seven years proven success in marketing, sales, event planning, or new business development.
Knowledge and skills in fundraising principles, practices and techniques.
Ability and experience to recruit, train, counsel, and manage volunteer groups and to develop long range organizational goals and follow through with them.
Ability to engage, lead and motivate volunteer committee members.
Ability to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to conflicts.
Ability to work in a highly professional environment.
Skill in making presentations to large and small audiences.
Ability to write clear and concise narratives.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools and databases
