This position can be home based.

Responsibilities
This individual will be responsible for contributing to the development of, managing and delivering the Mission Advancement department’s marketing plan targeting major, principal and planned giving donors and prospective donors, as well as professional advisors, with a focus on direct mail and published materials. Responsible for implementing and handling the day-to-day activities of the marketing plan, with personal implementation responsibility for delivering marketing that covers both national and localized marketing efforts. Responsible for ensuring a data-driven program with analysis and iterative approaches based on testing, as well as for reporting results and return on investment.
Develop strategy, build and implement innovative data-driven marketing plans to boost prospect acquisition, lead generation and cultivation of donors and professional advisors. The plans cover various channels, such as direct mail, newsletters (printed and electronic), websites, advertising, focus groups, emails, social media messages, and in-person strategies with the purpose of generating quality inquiries and retaining existing donors and strategic relationships. Implementation and on-time delivery of the year-round Mission Advancement print and digital marketing plan, which will effectively market the American Heart Association’s mission and will educate the public and professional advisors about top giving areas for charitable estate planning products, as well as major and principal gift opportunities. The marketing plan will also include internal strategies to leverage Association staff and other resources toward high quality lead generation. Responsible for the marketing budget, vendor critical paths and contract management for all marketing campaigns
Conducts measurement, monitoring and analytics of marketing plan, including high-quality lead generation. Scan strategic environment and review trends; develop, recommend strategy, and actively monitor for highest return on investment in Charitable Estate Planning marketing spend, as well as marketing Association Giving Societies and principal and major funding opportunities. Provides regular status of the Mission Advancement marketing plan and the effective use of the related budget, as well as internal and external metrics. Provides consultation as needed for CRMs or other platforms and projects as requested. Implements tests to grow campaigns year-round
Writes original and compelling marketing content and oversees content of specific articles, advertisements and stories that advance and achieve the Mission Advancement marketing plan, including internal publications as well as content developed for submission through external collaborators
Pursues, cultivates and builds a network of business relationships and alliances with internal departments and external organizations, agencies and vendors to achieve the goals of the marketing plan and to uncover new opportunities. Contributes to Standard Operating Procedures and internal guidance to the successful implementation of campaigns and resources developed. Stay on top of industry news, trends, and competitor announcements to inform strategy. Contribute to team assignments as requested
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Five (5) to Eight (8) years relevant experience
Experience in developing and implementing PRINT AND DIGITAL direct marketing campaigns
Experience with the non-profit environment, communicating with donors and/or top volunteers
Ability to prioritize assigned projects/tasks and manage to deadlines
Ability to develop and oversee marketing budget
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with proven experience in copy writing for high priority audiences
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Demonstrated effectiveness in building internal relationships, managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven analytics
Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision
Solid computer skills with the capability to master new software applications and technologies. Excellent Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and CRM skills required, as are relevant skills related to web, forms, automated email marketing
Preferred Experience:
Experience in estate planning
Experience working and communicating with the senior aged population
