The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Manager . The location for this position is flexible.

The Operations Manager for Scientific Publishing manages operational projects in scientific publishing including but not limited to the editor search and review process, write and maintain scientific publishing policy and procedures, staff and manage the Scientific Publishing COI committee, oversee yearly editor goal process, maintain metrics of department performance, oversee AHA Journals awards with the editorial offices, and other assignments as determined by either Supervisor or Vice President of Scientific Publishing.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Manage and maintain performance metrics of department

  • Manage editor search and renewal processes as well as yearly goal and evaluation process, including managing editor search committees

  • Write and maintain scientific publishing policy and procedure

  • Oversee the Scientific Publishing Committee Conflict of Interest Committee

  • Oversee the AHA Journals awards with the editorial offices

  • Assist Vice President with Scientific Publishing Budget

  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Vice President of Scientific Publishing

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Two (2) years of excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Two (2) years of excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Two (2) years of experience with online systems inlcuding all Microsoft Office Software, Adobe Reader

  • Must be very comfortable in an online environment and used to using online tools

  • One (1) year of Scientific Publishing experience
