American Heart Association Intern, Development in Modesto, California

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets of event planning and implementation, volunteer management, and community outreach. It will offer experience in the use of current business and development technologies, including the use of a computer and software applications. Our internships offer the opportunity to gain professional experience with a national non-profit organization, further develop communication and presentation skills, and experience skills in team collaboration and customer service.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20 hours per week

  • Internship Duration: Spring (January 16 – May 17)

  • Hybrid: work from home and in-person

  • Based in Modesto, California

Responsibilities

Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities to support for the Go Red for Women campaign for the Modesto market.

  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of the Go Red for Women campaign including:

  • Data collection and researching local corporations.

  • Mailing post cards to supporters for special day recognitions.

  • Pickup local auction items and event donations.

  • Support Wear Red Day activities.

  • Woman of Impact nominee cultivation.

  • Provide support with vendor and venue communications, timeline management, supply orders, and other logistics needs.

  • Support volunteer recruitment and engagement to ensure a positive, rewarding experience.

Qualifications

Desired Qualifications

  • Effective oral, written, and presentation communication skills.

  • Ability to work professionally in corporate and non-profit environments.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs.

  • Strong leadership experience.

  • Basic knowledge of Canva.

  • 20hrs/week availability, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5:00pm.

  • Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation – This position will pay $23/hour. Our goal is to ensure you have a competitive base salary. That’s why we regularly review the market value of jobs and make adjustments, as needed.
