The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Region Development Consultant located in our Eastern States region to work with our events and fundraising staff from Virginia to Maine . The person selected to fill this role will provide development consulting for a portfolio of events with breakout fundraising potential through overall strategy development, gap assessments, coaching calls, and field travel. This individual will also handle 2-3 key special projects that focus on areas of opportunity, innovative ways and/or evolving new ideas.

If you have the desire to take your career to the next level, apply now to join our team. Some of your major responsibilities will include:

  • Focus on developing key social events staff and overall strategies as identified by national trends and the Region's Sr Leadership Team.

  • Work collaboratively with other consultants to drive national and affiliate specific strategies for Core Special Events.

  • Analyze data for trends and recommendations to ensure development events meet goals.

  • Model, mentor, and troubleshoot best practice execution for core events.

  • Identifying priority markets and working in conjunction with National and other consultant staff to learn effective strategies and consulting methods.

  • Looking for trends in the data and providing staff and leadership strategy coaching to prevent negative trending.

  • Drive and foster exponential growth in Individual Giving strategies and revenue streams, Company Recruitment/Fundraising and strategic alliances/significant corporate sponsorship development.

  • Serve as a Development training leader for field staff at all levels of the development team.

  • Support our strategic plan priorities with event Chair recruitment and volunteer engagement.

  • Set expectations and collaborate in the field to produce top ranking Affiliate-level campaign results



Want to move your resume to the top? Here are some things to consider:

  • A bachelor’s degree or some college coursework combined with related experience is helpful.

  • 5+ years fundraising experience overseeing $1m+ in revenue, along with recruiting and managing volunteers.

  • Proven experience with key fundraising strategies – including but not limited to business partner campaigns, c-suite volunteer management, six figures+ sponsorship/marketing proposals, as well as mission integration in key requests.

  • Comfortable working with executives at the VP, SVP and EVP level.

  • Ability to direct a team but also to work independently.

  • Excellent influencing skills - experience in consultation to staff over which there is no reporting relationship.

  • Skills in written and verbal communication at all organizational levels including large and small group presentations, group facilitation and trainings.

  • Ability to plan and conduct meetings.

  • Knowledge of group dynamics and group process.

  • Experience in event planning, organizing, consultation and volunteer management preferred.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the proven track record to analyze numbers to impact campaign trends and build strategies on where to shift to impact future results

  • Ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, run reports and maintain accurate data.

  • Ability to travel throughout the region (up to 35%) which may include some nights and weekends as needed.

  • Willing to work outside of standard hours as needed.
