The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Community Impact Project Coordinator based in the Inland Empire.
The focus of this position is to assess district level school tobacco policies in the Riverside and San Bernardino School Districts to help us understand the current tobacco and vaping policies and to help provide recommendations following AHA’s Tobacco-Free guidelines. This position will support school-based tobacco and vaping policy initiatives along with identifying and addressing the links between vaping and mental and behavioral health and assisting in identifying gaps in tobacco and vaping prevention.
The Project Coordinator will assist the Community Impact team to convene community conversations to discuss and provide education around tobacco and vaping. Our goal is to reduce, prevent, and raise awareness around tobacco and vaping.
This is a grant-supported, part-time position with an anticipated duration through June 2023 offering a variable schedule of up to 15 hours per week .
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
Learn our toolkit recommendations and policy objectives
Assess district level school tobacco and vaping policies across Riverside and San Bernardino
Support planning & execution of district level convenings on school tobacco policies and implementation strategies
Support creation of school action plans
Support and create grant evaluation & reporting methods
Provide assistance and support where necessary for AHA Community Impact Team
Ensure a high quality of service is provided to all customers, staff, and volunteers.
Actively participate in division efforts to achieve division, region and association-wide goals and initiatives.
Manage data related to programs and events utilizing appropriate databases.
Coordinate logistics for assigned events, meetings and programs and provides day-of-event support as needed.
The ideal candidate must have:
Interest and passion for equitable policies and decisions
Interest in promoting overall student health and wellness
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Initiative with the ability to plan, organize and complete work with limited supervision
A relationship builder with the ability to connect with different stakeholders and identify and engage key partners
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work productively from a home office environment and travel to school/meeting sites as needed
Willing and open to work part-time (up to 15 hours/week)
