American Heart Association Development Director in West Des Moines, Iowa

We are currently looking to hire a Development Director for our Go Red For Women event in our Midwest Affiliate office located in Des Moines, Iowa . The Development Director, Go Red For Women (GRFW) is responsible and accountable for recruitment, training, campaign goal and management activities to ensure efficient growth and development of the assigned GRFW luncheon and other local events. The GRFW Director is responsible for securing local sponsorship income, individual donations and auction items, in partnership with the immediate supervisor to support the events and to maximize overall income potential. This is a fast paced sales position with accountability for driving revenue. A competitive salary with incentive potential is available.

This position is remote/home based in the Des Moines area.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships, individual donations, and auction items.

  • Identify, recruit and manage executive volunteer leadership including implementing a year-round cultivation plan.

  • Develop profiles on the top businesses within the Des Moines market with a documented plan to secure their involvement.

  • Implement event logistics based on national best practices.

  • Work closely with a Communications Director to develop and manage a promotion/communications plan for the campaign.

Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience in fundraising or outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity.

  • Ability to thrive in a results-driven and collaborative environment with highly effective organization, multi-tasking, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to recruit, train, and manage high level volunteers to accomplish established goals.

  • Skill in making oral presentations to large and small audiences and ability to write clear and concise narratives.

  • Ability to do daily travel up to 75% and overnight travel up to 5%.

  • Basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
