American Heart Association Executive Director in Anchorage, Alaska

We are hiring an Executive Director to lead the Alaska Division. This role allows you to work where you are most effective within Alaska – in the field with clients or potential clients, at home in Alaska, or in our Anchorage office.

The Executive Director will manage the statewide division, ensuring the achievement of revenue and health goals. By developing engaged volunteer leadership and staff, the Executive Director will be accountable for annual net revenue and health impact goals, transforming the health of communities across Alaska.

We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Alaska Division with campaigns in Anchorage and Fairbanks to achieve revenue and health impact goals. Ensure effective leadership and Board recruitment, corporate sponsorship, special events, individual giving, workplace initiatives, and mission impact.

  • Execute strategic plans for aggressive growth in unrestricted revenue.

  • Achieve health impact goals and drive success in collective impact work.

  • Foster collaboration with regional and national partners.

  • Develop and manage culture, infrastructure, and talent for sustained success.

  • Demonstrate leadership competencies in staff recruitment, coaching, and development.

  • Recruit and engage influential volunteer leaders for corporate and personal giving.

  • Forge and manage partnerships with key organizations and individuals.

  • Provide management expertise and guidance for fundraising campaigns.

  • Evaluate and report progress using data management tools.

  • Ensure compliance with operational and financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience that includes:

  • Supervisory experience

  • Building effective teams of staff and volunteers.

  • Setting and achieving aggressive goals on a sustained basis.

  • Experience recruiting, engaging, and activating executive level corporate and medical volunteers.

  • Ability to influence others to action through creating a shared vision and sense of ownership and personal accountability.

  • Ability to credibly establish and execute a strategic plan across functional areas and disciplines in a complex and highly dynamic environment, effectively translating strategies to measurable goals and plans.

  • Proven ability to think strategically, analyze market data, identify key trends, and have participated in the strategy development and execution of initiatives to achieve fundraising and operational goals.

Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree may be preferred in supporting the required level of skill, knowledge and experience required.

  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communications, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation and training and writing clear, concise narrative reports and evaluations.

  • Knowledge of corporate and community networks.

  • Knowledge of American Heart Association’s mission and programs.
