During your internship you will have the opportunity to perform a variety of duties related to accomplishing operational, financial and compliance audits, as well as special projects. You will be exposed to audit work programs and risk assessments. The Internal Audit Intern will apply technology to accomplish goals, including the use of audit management tools, data analytics and financial software. Internal Audit projects will be assigned to provide a variety of exposure to a career in governance, risk management, IT, and compliance.

The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

  • Time Commitment: 20-25 hours per week

  • Internship Duration: 5/20-8/9

  • Location : Dallas, TX (Hybrid)

  • Salary: $23.00 per hour

  • Complete an internship that enriches your academic and professional resume as well as enriching your personal life by making a difference in the lives of others

Responsibilities

The Internal Audit Intern will be provided an opportunity to develop a stronger understanding of the audit profession by working with experienced audit staff and management. The Internal Audit Intern will:

  • Receive exposure to the internal audit profession, including IIA Professional Auditing Standards.

  • Gain experience of key business processes of a non-profit organization, with international presence.

  • Assist in the planning phase on assigned segments of an audit

  • Support and perform audit tests through the review and analysis of documentation and system databases

  • Interact and engage with different stakeholders during the audit process

  • Analyze data, using technology to support decision making

  • Develop personally and professionally

  • Receive coaching to develop techniques

Qualifications

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Business/Administration, Information Systems, or related field with an interest in internal audit.

  • Desire to learn the principles and practices of internal audit

  • Desire to be exposed to advance technology, including Financial Software, Tableau and Diligent Data Analytics.

  • Ability to learn, think, reason, and solve problems with appropriate mentoring provided.

  • Ability to communicate both in writing, in person and via Zoom/Teams.

  • Ability to work both independently and in team settings.
