American Heart Association Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke in Dallas, Texas

The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for a Program Consultant Healthcare Quality – Post Acute Stroke supporting our National Center office in Dallas, TX. This position can be home based.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, grant funded opportunity. Current funding will expire on June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension.

The Program Consultant Healthcare Quality will be responsible for the implementation of quality programs aimed at improving care in patients with cardiovascular disease in South Dakota. Responsible for working with multiple sites to educate and motivate improvement in treatment to guidelines, clinical processes and practices. Responsible for communicating project status, and delivering requirements within budget, scope, and timeline. This position will also work closely with several different departments within the national office to ensure success.

Responsibilities

  • Drive implementation of quality improvement projects which help healthcare providers treat to American Heart Association guidelines for patients with cardiovascular disease. Provide consultation, direction, and support through learning cohorts to identify strategies for improving outcomes. Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders and volunteers. Facilitate learning cohort meetings and local conferences in coordination with volunteers and staff partners.

  • Develop program implementation strategies in alignment with initiative objectives. Serve as point person for ongoing resources needed by hospitals and clinics to sustain knowledge (via online education, articles, etc.). In coordination with staff partners and volunteers, establish sustainability plan for all components of grant.

  • Develop clinical decision support tools and work collaboratively with clinicians to implement systematic efforts in improving care. Recruit program Participants and work with in-hospital clinical care teams to address barriers to guideline adoption and enhance clinical workflows for improved patient outcomes.

  • Communicate regularly with Sr. Manager to assure tasks are completed according to grant timeline. Work with cross-functional teams to build buy-in and ensure grant deliverables are met.

  • Manage project documents, including budgets, timelines, and reports on status for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 2 + years of relevant experience

  • Experience in the post-acute clinical setting (Post Acute Stroke preferred)

  • Experience in healthcare or in a public health-related organization: clinical, quality improvement, program development and systems improvement. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position's educational requirement.

  • Proficiency in project management including management of budgets, timelines, activity plans and communication with team members and stakeholders.

  • Skilled in working with clinical audiences to impact change management related to patient outcomes

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communications skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment and interact with all levels of American Heart Association staff, volunteers and the public

  • Comprehensive Microsoft Office suite skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 15% and overnight stay to South Dakota

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range will be $70,000 to $90,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
