Working across multiple technology and business teams the Enterprise Solutions Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based infrastructure and systems. They play a crucial role in developing scalable and reliable solutions that leverage cloud services to meet business objectives. The primary focus is on architecting and optimizing cloud environments to improve performance, security, and efficiency.

Communication, influencing, and collaboration skills are as important as Cloud architecture knowledge. Cybersecurity, collaboration skills and integration with existing systems are also key.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design: Designing and implementing cloud infrastructure solutions (compute, storage, and networking) based on business requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security performance. Advance our understanding of developing cloud offerings and consistency of best practices. Consult with and directly participate in strategic programs and major projects.

  • Support and Lead Cross-Functional Teams: Work with other architects, vendors, program managers, systems and network teams, cybersecurity and leadership groups to develop and refine requirements and plans while aligning cloud solutions with organizational goals. Assist in the development of Requests for Proposal (RFP) and evaluate received proposals for technical/data approach and merit.

  • Security Implementation: Implementing security best practices and ensuring compliance with industry standards to safeguard cloud-based systems and data.

  • System Integration: Integrating cloud services with existing on-premises systems and applications to build a cohesive and streamlined IT environment.

  • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost-effectiveness, performance, and resource utilization.

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Define logging, monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues, ensuring the availability and reliability of cloud systems.

  • Documentation: Crafting and maintaining comprehensive documentation for cloud architectures, configurations, and procedures. Work to develop and align standards for reference.

  • Automation and Orchestration: Designing and implementing automation scripts and orchestration processes to streamline deployment, management, and scaling of cloud resources.

Qualifications

  • Cloud Platforms: Proficient in Microsoft Azure (primarily) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). Experience transforming sophisticated business requirements into data requirements, architectures, and designs

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize cloud environments.

  • Continuous Learning: A dedication to staying updated on the latest cloud technologies and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.

  • Networking: Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), subnets, security groups, and routing.

  • Security: Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance frameworks.

  • Containers and Orchestration: Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating routine tasks and processes.

  • Monitoring and Logging: Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools to ensure the availability and performance of cloud-based systems.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working with outside professional service teams in joint design and development activities Strong presentation and collaboration skills and can communicate all aspects of the job requirements, including the creation of formal documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure and AWS, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS design and deployment

  • Virtual networking, cloud and on-premise, with redundancy and encryption

  • Documentation, diagramming, and discovery tools such as Visio and PowerPoint

  • Project management tools such as Project, PPM Pro, and others

  • Logging, tracing, monitoring and troubleshooting tools

Compensation & Benefits

Expected pay range will be $113,700 to $155,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
