American Heart Association Temporary Marketing Communications Director in San Antonio, Texas

We’re hiring a temporary Marketing Communications Director for South Texas. This position will lead marketing and communications efforts for the South Texas area, including San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley.

This is a part-time, temporary position with an approximate end date of June 27, 2025.

This is a home-office position open to candidates in the San Antonio and Corpus Christi, TX, areas. There will be occasional travel within the South Texas area, including local travel within the San Antonio area and Corpus Christi.

Responsibilities

Media Relations & Sponsorships

  • Develop and maintain media contact lists for key regional outlets.

  • Conduct outreach to local and regional media to secure coverage for campaigns and events.

  • Cultivate and secure media sponsorships (paid and in-kind) for core fundraising events and community initiatives.

  • Draft, pitch, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and story angles.

  • Coordinate interviews, talking points, and media follow-ups to maximize visibility.

Marketing Communications Project Management

  • Manage and execute marketing and communications plans for core events and stewardship events.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather event and impact content for social, web, email, and PR use.

  • Work with Regional team to track and report on campaign progress and outcomes using defined KPIs.

  • Work with Regional team to ensure all materials meet brand guidelines and are delivered on time.

Nation of Lifesavers Communications Support

  • Assist in planning and executing communications efforts for CPR and Nation of Lifesavers initiatives.

  • Collaborate on social media content and campaigns that align with lifesaving goals.

  • Help identify storytelling opportunities that elevate lifesaving education and impact in the community.

General Support & Collaboration

  • Attend virtual meetings and check-ins with staff and volunteers as needed.

  • Provide communications support at occasional in-person events or media opportunities (based on availability.

  • Help maintain shared communications calendars and project trackers.

  • Support regional storytelling efforts through content collection and coordination with the national team, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 3 years of experience in marketing, marketing communications, public relations, or equivalent experience. Nonprofit and/or agency experience preferred.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
