American Heart Association Sr. Bequest Administrator in St. Petersburg, Florida

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Bequest Administrator in our Mission Advancement department!

This position will work in a hybrid setting (in office 2 days a week at a minimum) in our St. Petersburg, Florida office.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the estate administration process for gifts from wills, trusts, split-interest agreements, perpetual trusts, and other testamentary instruments. Responsible for managing and processing distributions from various estate sources. Oversees bequest-related litigation and handles liquidation of any real estate received in-kind through the bequest process. Reports to and fills in for the VP-Estate Settlement as needed.

  • Monitors, reviews, and processes legal documentation, trust statements, and related materials for bequest distribution requirements and restrictions

  • Maintains and ensures data and donor information is accurate and up to date in both electronic database and electronic document depository

  • Communicates and coordinates bequest activities with estate/trust representatives and attorneys. Collaborate with all parties to resolve concerns or issues. Processes receipts for liquidation of estate assets

  • Maintains accurate records for split-interest and perpetual trusts and provides information for correct financial recording of assets and audit review

  • Serves as point person on all bequest-related litigation

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) (law degree)

  • At least three (3) years of experience

  • Knowledge of estate planning techniques, probate & trust administration.

  • Ability to manage litigation, including cost-benefit analysis of pursuing/hiring counsel

  • Organized, detailed oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; good negotiation skills

  • Ability to use MS Office products

  • Ability to travel up to 5% local and overnight stay

Preferred Experience:

  • Ability to work with staff in a collaborative “supervision-light” way

  • Public speaking abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of real estate transaction activities

  • Knowledge and understanding of non-profit accounting procedures

Compensation & Benefits

The minimum salary to the range's midpoint is $64,500.00 to $85,900.00. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differences may apply to the pay range. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
